Akachukwu, benjamin chukwuemeka (akabeks) was born on 23rd June 1971 at Amata Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State Nigeria. He is a 1998 graduate of painting from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
His works are his personal dialogues with his environment: His artworks are like collection of short stories. Each piece is a complete narrative yet, each completes others; they are like a story of a society, each individual or group’s story is a complete story but all the stories of individuals and groups can only make a complete story about the society when they complete one another- when they are put together as one full story. He wants his art as a collection of short stories to occupy a spot in the soul of anybody that made contact with it; to probe their quiet moments, thought processes, and calm them like the ocean settling down after the tide.
His current works explore narratives of various writers- paying attention to writers of African descent. He is particularly interested in books listed in ‘African Writers Series’ because they tell undiluted African stories, and books by writers of ‘Igbo origin’ because they speak to ‘his soul’.
